The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) is a well-established, national, not-for-profit, organisation whose 5,000 members fight to ensure injured people receive full and fair redress for those, often life-changing, injuries. APIL is run by a committed team of professional staff at its Nottingham headquarters who undertake campaign work at the highest levels of Government and in the press, and provide information and training to help ensure its members offer the highest standards of ethical legal advice. The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward thinking Head of Legal Affairs. This is a senior management role within our organisation and we are looking to recruit a dynamic and talented individual to help shape the direction of APIL’s future legal policy in conjunction with the APIL Executive Committee and to develop our research and legal information services to reflect the changing needs of our membership. The successful candidate will be a legal practitioner with significant post qualification experience. We are looking for a lateral thinker, with a strong and collaborative leadership style. To ensure the reputation of the association is upheld, the successful candidate will have well developed interpersonal skills to actively engage with our members and all external agencies. Educated to degree level, you will have knowledge of a wide range of research methods and a proven interest in personal injury law and associated consumer matters. The formulation of responses to consultations from the Government and opinion formers is a key part of this role. An excellent communicator, you will be a strong team player and, above all, relish an intellectual challenge.
