Responding on behalf of injured people

Law on Damages

APIL responded robustly to the recent Government consultation on the Law on Damages and awaits the Government response with great interest. APIL continues to campaign for injured people to receive fair and full compensation.

Streamlining the claims process

APIL provided a detailed response to the Government’s consultation on streamlining the claims process and the small claims limit. The association awaits the Government response and will campaign for the interests of victims to be at the heart of the claims process.

Directors’ duties

APIL is campaigning for directors’ health and safety duties to be enshrined in law. The fact that 241 people suffered fatal injuries at work in 2006-07 proves this to be a much needed reform.

Coroner reform

The Government has promised to introduce a Coroner Reform Bill in the 2007-08 session of Parliament and APIL will scrutinise the bill to ensure it will lead to a more efficient and responsive system. APIL will, in particular, press for legal advice and representation to be available for all bereaved families.
